HeartMathยฎ Institute defines resilience as โOur capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge or adversity.โ In this context, the capacity represents the energy reservoir in our bodies to draw from when we need it. We may think of it as our โinner batteryโ that we can recharge or drain and how well we maintain our reserves.
๐
The more we grow our awareness, stay attuned to the intelligence of the heart, and the better we become at managing harmoniously this energy reserve, the greater the resilience and power we have to accomplish things that really matter to us, and the greater harmony we gain in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
Challenges may still meet us, however, with more resilience and heart direction we become more empowered to cope with them in a different way - with more composure and less draining strain. We also adapt and recover from them in a quicker way.
The ancient truth says:
"Where your attention goes - your energy flows. What your attention is upon - you become."
Behind greater resilience there is greater energy, greater awareness, and greater power we have to make right choices at any given moment.
The access to knowing what those right choices are, abides in our own hearts' intelligence.
The way I see and feel it is...
In the GARDENS OF OUR HEARTS, qualities such as love, compassion, kindliness, gratitude, forgiveness, integrity, joy, can bloom like precious flowers, ever more beautiful as we nourish them with AWARENESS.
As these Gardens of the Heart Qualities expand, we attune more to the Source of All Creation. We allow the Light of our Presence to powerfully heal us, to reveal the purpose of our lives, and to guide us through life's experiences.
We all have such GARDEN OF HEALING LIGHT within us. ๐
Have you ever felt as if by the end of the day your day's events left you drained from your own energy? Yet, the events are not the true cause of the drain, rather the emotions WE have ABOUT them is what truly matters.
The scientific fact is, our emotions, feelings and attitudes can substantially deplete or rejuvenate us. It is not the matter of having emotions, but rather the quality of them. Experiencing anger, fear or frustration leaves us tired. On the other hand, helping a person in need, hearing words of love or appreciation, receiving a warm hug - feels quite different - it is uplifting. Different quality of a feeling, emotion or attitude, carries different energy and also affects us in a different way. Those, flowing from the heart, such as love, gratefulness, compassion, appreciation, kindnessโฆ, are truly rejuvenating, but those of anger, irritation, impatience, hateโฆ, are the ones to cause us lose our energy unnecessarily. Often they are so subtle that it is not easy to detect them at first. After all, how draining could few minutes of listening to a complaining be? Or feeling slight dislike, or watching daily news? However, even as harmless as they may seem, if repeated daily, they accumulate and continuously rob us of our vitality and power to make intelligent choices, be creative, composed, efficient, patient, kindโฆ all of it. These qualities do not come through easily when we are tired and drained. And that's how the practice of resilience techniques becomes so important - it helps minimize or even eliminate unnecessary energy drains. As the ancient truth says: "Where your attention goes - your energy flows; what your attention is upon - you become." This is a practice of self-awareness and diving into the heart intelligence to allow us make right choices about where and what we spend our energy on. A skillset especially valuable in the challenging, fast-paced and energy demanding times we are living in at this moment.
